This week, Donnie Smith, COI for Agribusiness director and Jill Stuckey, COI for Energy director, were part of a panel of speakers at the Cooperative Extension County Agent training program presented by the UGA Bioenergy Education Task Force.
County Extension agents serve as a link between the university and the public; therefore the training course was designed to equip each agent with a basic understanding of the current bioenergy industry. The goal was to also connect the agents with industry leaders so they have a resource to call upon when specific information or additional expertise is needed. Approximately 150 agents attended the training sessions in Tifton and Eatonton.
The UGA Bioenergy Task Force is part of the Biofuels, Biopower and Biomaterials Initiative. Comprised of nine members, the task force combines areas of expertise to provide a scientific and practical foundation to support an economic and sustainable bioenergy future.
