Georgia Farmers Recognized for Stewardship Efforts
This week is Ag Awareness week in Georgia – a time for the agribusiness community to celebrate the state’s largest industry, show appreciation to farmers for providing food and clothing, and highlight outstanding efforts to conserve natural resources. As part of the annual event, Georgia selects one farmer from each of the state’s five districts as the winner of the Environmental Stewardship Award, which is sponsored by the Center of Innovation (COI) for Agribusiness. Donnie Smith, COI for Agribusiness director, will recognize the district winners and name the state winner at today’s Ag Day festivities in Atlanta.
The COI for Agribusiness congratulates the following winning farmers for their use of exceptional practices to protect and conserve the land for future generations:
- Will Harris, White Oak Pastures
- J. Everett Williams, WD Dairy, LLC
- Andy Futch, R&A Orchards
- Cecil Stafford, Blueberry Hill
- Jeff Herrin, LL Family Farm
