Georgia Blueberry Farmers Turn to Olives

To meet the rising trend in olive oil use, blueberry farmers in Pierce County have begun to diversify by adding olives to their mix. Grown and harvested similar to blueberries, a full crop of olives is expected by 2013. The estimated yield from one acre of olive trees is 240 gallons of olive oil with a return of $22 per gallon.
